The Performers Studio selects Professionals from the Performing Arts industry to lead a variety of workshops and classes for all abilities for both children and adults.

The Performers Studio was founded in 2013 by Kelly Mathys. Kelly trained at June Hornby's Dance Studio and Mercury Dance Academy then went onto train in Performing Arts at King Alfreds University and Acting and Musical Theatre at The Royal Central School of Speech and Drama winning the Diana Wade scholarship.
She has, since graduating in 2006, been working as a professional actor, singer and dancer. She has performed at venues including The Old Vic, Theatre Royal Haymarket, Battersea Arts Centre, Bridewell Theatre, Southwark Playhouse and has performed in numerous UK tours, short films and adverts. Alongside her performing career Kelly has worked freelance as a Performance tutor and has over 15 years teaching experience in both the UK and Spain. She has taught for The Central School of Speech and Drama, The Richmond Theatre, Drama Vision, Showstoppers, Stage Giant, ACT Drama, Big Foot Theatre Company, Cresset Theatre, Polka Dot Theatre, Stagecoach Theatre Arts, Rise Studios, Theatre Workout, GLYPT, Go-Experience, The Showteam, Southampton Music Hub, The Nuffield Theatre and Cunard onboard the Queen Mary 2.
Kelly is very passionate about passing on her performance knowledge and enthusiasm for the arts to the next generation. Kelly feels the best way to learn about performing and the performance industry is through professionals that are actively practising in the industry which is why The Performers Studio was born. She is excited to meet all students at The Performers Studio!
Kelly is fully DBS checked (formly CRB), has completed Paediatric First Aid training with St John Ambulance has undergone child safeguarding training with the NSPCC and has a CACHE Level 2 Certificate in understanding children and young people's mental health.

She has also performed at the National Theatre, The Royal Shakespeare Theatre for the RSC and at Disneyland Paris.
Teaching Credits: Philippa has worked for over 9 years with ExCathedra choir and their education department on the award winning ‘Singing Playgrounds’ and ‘Singing Medicine’ projects in Schools and Hospitals in Birmingham and London. She also works regularly as a choral animateur for the Ark Academy Network. She has taught singing to the boys from Billy Elliot, the children’s chorus in the Welsh National Opera, and taught workshops at the Battersea Arts Centre, as well as teaching private pupils singing and acting through song.
